アミノ酸さんのタイプの違ちがいは、「右みぎ」と「左ひだり」に例たとえられ、ことしのノーベル化学賞かがくしょうに選えらばれた硤合そあい憲三けんそうさんの研究けんきゅうでも大おおきく注目ちゅうもくされました。自然界しぜんかいでは二ふたつのタイプが同おなじ割合わりあいで生うまれるはずなのに、地球ちきゅうの生命せいめいを形作かたちづくるアミノ酸さんはなぜか「左手型ひだりてがた」ばかりに偏かたよっています。この謎なぞは生命せいめいの起源きげんを解とく重要じゅうような手てがかりとされています。
