194歳のゾウガメが長生きする理由を調べる

大西洋たいせいようにあるイギリスのセントヘレナ島とうに、推定すいてい194歳さいのゾウガメ「ジョナサン」が生活せいかつしています。ジョナサンは江戸時代えどじだいの1832年ねん生うまれとされ、世界せかいで一番いちばん長ながく生いきている陸りくの動物どうぶつと言いわれています。欧米おうべいの研究けんきゅうチームは10月がつ7日なのか、ジョナサンの「ゲノム」（全遺伝情報ぜんいでんじょうほう）を解析かいせきして、長ながく生いきるひみつを調しらべたと発表はっぴょうしました。

An estimated 194-year-old giant tortoise named Jonathan lives on Saint Helena, a British island in the Atlantic Ocean. Jonathan is said to have been born in 1832 during the Edo period and is considered the world's longest-living land animal. On October 7, a research team from Europe and the United States announced that they had analyzed Jonathan's genome (complete genetic information) to investigate the secrets of his long life.
