Visitors were evacuated from Yorkshire Wildlife Park in northern England on Saturday after a man entered a tiger enclosure and died from an animal attack. Emergency services rushed to the park near the city of Doncaster at about 1:35 p.m., but the man died at the scene.
Police said one of the tigers attacked the man after he got inside the fenced area. It was not immediately clear how he entered. The animal was not injured and remained inside the habitat, and authorities confirmed there was no wider danger to the public.
Staff evacuated all visitors from the park, which announced it would stay closed until Sunday while managers work with police to investigate what happened. Officers also urged people not to share footage online after videos showing the man inside the enclosure appeared on social media.
The park opened in 2009, and its reserve for endangered Amur tigers opened in 2011. The area includes a 300-metre raised walkway designed to let visitors view the animals safely from above. Park leaders said the safety of visitors, staff, and animals remains their highest priority.
