James Wale created a home for exotic animals on a woodland site in Wales. He kept wallabies, mongooses, porcupines, and rare birds like parrots and hornbills. However, neighbours complained that the property sounded like a tropical jungle, especially at night.
Local council officials said Mr. Wale broke planning rules by building animal enclosures and living in a log cabin on the land without permission. An inspector visited the site and agreed that he must stop keeping non-agricultural animals there.
Because finding places for unusual animals takes time, officials gave Mr. Wale 12 months to relocate them and remove the structures. His representatives hope to submit a new application to keep some of the birds on the property.
