Snap has introduced a new artificial intelligence assistant called Specs Intelligence. The tool is designed to help people manage work tasks and personal plans by predicting when users need help during their daily schedules. A preview of the service is now available on iOS devices, and users can join a waitlist for access on Mac computers.
Specs Intelligence connects to daily digital tools such as Gmail and Slack to understand a user's goals, routines, and priorities. Unlike traditional AI tools that wait for a prompt, this assistant aims to surface relevant information automatically. For example, before an upcoming meeting, it can highlight important decisions to make and questions to ask. It can also organize flight and hotel details for a trip while flagging any work deadlines that fall during the visit.
The software is launching alongside Specs, Snap's first consumer augmented reality glasses. When paired with the smart glasses, Specs Intelligence can project personal updates, such as a daily work briefing, directly into the user's view. Snap spokesperson Cassie Bumgarner said the system runs on a mixture of local AI models and open-source models hosted in the United States.
Because the service connects to private accounts, user privacy is a major concern. Snap stated that it cannot view or access the personal content processed by Specs Intelligence. The company also promised that data from connected accounts will not be used to train its AI models or deliver personalized advertisements. Still, Snap must persuade users to trust the company with their sensitive personal data.
