Palestinian communities in the occupied West Bank are facing severe disruptions to daily life as military checkpoints, land seizures, and financial restrictions tighten across the territory. In a new report, the prominent Israeli human rights organization B'Tselem claims that these measures form part of a deliberate government campaign to systematically dismantle Palestinian society. According to B'Tselem Director Yuli Novak, the policy aims to break apart the essential structures that Palestinian communities rely on to sustain themselves.

form part of= 成為更大計畫或結構中的一部分

The impact is increasingly visible across public services and local economies. In Hebron, Dr. Hazem Mohammad Saladeh, head of a local hospital, warned that the health sector risks collapse because permits to retrieve vital medical supplies, such as cardiac stents from Tel Aviv, are routinely delayed or denied. Across the West Bank, unemployment has climbed above 30 percent, exacerbated by withheld tax revenues from the Palestinian government and hundreds of newly installed checkpoints that close off villages without warning.

exacerbated by= 因特定因素而使情況變得更加惡化

Violence and displacement in the region have escalated significantly over the past three years, during which more than 1,100 Palestinians and over 41 Israeli soldiers and civilians have been killed in the West Bank. B'Tselem noted that restrictions intensified sharply following the Hamas-led October 7, 2023, attack, which killed and captured more than 1,200 Israelis. International pressure has also grown, with the United Kingdom and other Western allies recently imposing sanctions on Israeli settlers in the West Bank.

during which= 用於連結特定時間段及該期間內發生的事件

Israeli government officials and the military strongly reject the report's conclusions. Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar dismissed accusations of ethnic cleansing as "outrageous lies," asserting that Israel will not act against its national security interests. The Israeli military similarly characterized the report as false and detached from reality. The controversy comes as Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu faces a tight reelection campaign ahead of national elections next month.

detached from reality= 與實際事實或現狀完全不符或脫節
