Strikes have hit energy sites in Saudi Arabia and Yemen as regional fighting reaches vital fuel supplies. In Dhahran, a strike caused a small fire at an office building belonging to the state oil firm Saudi Aramco. Saudi Arabia's energy ministry reported the fire and confirmed that no one was injured.
The strike followed a direct warning from Houthi forces in Yemen. The group told civilians to evacuate Saudi oil facilities, calling those locations a "legitimate target." In response, the Saudi-led coalition attacked Houthi energy terminals and fuel reserves in Yemen. Coalition spokesperson Turki al-Maliki said military forces took precautions to avoid "collateral damage on civilians," meaning unintended harm to ordinary people.
The strikes on oil infrastructure have also triggered political reactions abroad. In the United States, President Donald Trump accused Houthi rebels of targeting Saudi infrastructure intentionally to inflate energy prices before the US midterm elections.
