Astronauts traveling around the Moon witnessed a rare event: tiny flashes of light caused by space rocks hitting the lunar surface. Now, people around the world can explore this moment for themselves. NASA has published a massive online collection of raw mission files on a website called "Artemis II: Sights & Sounds of Science."

The public archive contains more than 800 gigabytes of material from the Artemis II mission. The collection includes over 11,000 photos and videos, more than 8.5 hours of audio, and pictures marked with notes by the astronauts. The space agency also released three scientific reports and guides to help researchers and the public study the raw information.

One of the most exciting parts of the release is video footage of the astronauts speaking to the ground team in Houston. In the clip, the crew describes seeing faint impact flashes on the dark side of the Moon. Scientists have recorded impact flashes before, but researchers noted that these could be the faintest ones ever seen with the human eye.

One of the most exciting parts= 「最も〜なものの1つ」という構文で、複数ある注目点の中から特に際立った要素を導入する表現。ever seen with the human eye= 「人間の肉眼でこれまでに観測された」という意味で、直前のones(閃光)を修飾し、過去の記録との比較を強調する表現。

The unedited files give the public an unprecedented view inside a historic lunar voyage. Instead of waiting for finished summaries, viewers can hear the crew's real excitement and explore the discoveries alongside the science team.
