A long new walking trail is now open for hikers in Japan. The Hitachinokuni Long Trail is 320 kilometers long. It is the longest loop hiking trail in the country.
The route connects six cities and towns near Tokyo. Hikers walk through traditional Japanese countryside areas called satoyama. In these places, local communities live next to mountains, fields, and ponds.
People can visit the trail all year because heavy snow does not block the path. Some parts of the trail have steep hills and rocky ground, and there are few places to buy food along the route.
The circular trail is divided into five main areas, so hikers can choose where to start. Walkers can see high mountains, waterfalls, and ancient historical sites along the journey.
