Captain Chesley "Sully" Sullenberger has entered the National Aviation Hall of Fame. This special group honors famous pilots and space travelers in the United States. Sullenberger, who is 75 years old, joined the award ceremony by video to thank the organization.
Sullenberger became famous in 2009 during an emergency landing. His plane hit a flock of birds after takeoff, and both engines stopped working. Sullenberger landed the airplane safely on the Hudson River in New York. All 155 people on board survived the event, which people called the "Miracle on the Hudson."
Recently, Sullenberger spoke about a personal health challenge. Two months ago, he shared that he was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease, a medical condition that affects the brain and memory. Sullenberger said he wants to speak openly about his illness so other families living with the disease do not feel alone.
