During a live appearance at the All-In Summit, Nvidia Chief Executive Officer Jensen Huang answered a phone call from President Donald Trump and placed him on speakerphone in front of thousands of audience members. The unexpected conversation brought current political debates over artificial intelligence directly to the conference stage.
Speaking over the loudspeaker, President Trump dismissed recent concerns regarding rapid AI development, calling such fears a "hoax" and reassuring the crowd that "the robots will not be taking over." The comments came during a week of intense debate within the technology sector. Over the weekend, Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei published an essay titled "We Must Pace the Frontier," calling for a slower pace of AI development and stronger coordination among governments. While several tech leaders generally agreed with Amodei's message, Trump publicly pushed back against calls for restraint on social media and reiterated his position during the call.
Trump also commented on the expansion of tech infrastructure, claiming that data centers had financially transformed struggling areas into "really wealthy" communities, though he did not provide specific examples. Huang did not challenge the president's claims on stage, focusing instead on national growth. "We’re going to make sure that everybody wins in the AI race in America," Huang said, stating that the benefits should reach "every industry, every company, every state, every person."
